Our Favourite UK Camping Locations That Allow Campfires

Camping in the great outdoors is a joie de vivre. After a busy week in the city, packing up your gear and heading to your favourite countryside spot is a great way to unwind and detach from the devices that dominate modern-day life.

Historically, a roaring fire was the center of any camping experience. However, due to health and safety concerns, many campsites in the UK have banned fires. So, if you’re hoping to pick a spot where you can toast marshmallows with your friends under the stars, here are our favourite UK camping locations that still permit a roaring campfire.

Top of the Woods, Pembrokeshire

Aptly named and away from it all, Top of the Woods, close to Pembrokeshire National Park, is one of our favourite campsites in the UK. Ideal for campers and glampers, the site is a stone’s throw away from rugged, wild beaches, historic castles, and thicketed woodland that are all yours to explore. Few things are as enjoyable as spending the day exploring the wild Welsh coast before returning to camp to tell stories around a roaring fire.

Pineapple Estate, Dorset

A converted dairy farm at the heart of the West Dorset countryside, Pineapple Estate is the perfect place to set up camp before exploring the Jurassic Coast. A couple of pubs are within walking distance of this adult-only campsite, and you can choose from a range of fabulous glamping options or bring your own gear to enjoy an authentic camping experience. The guys at Pineapple appreciate the magic of roaring campfires, which is why they’re happy for you to light up using sustainably sourced fuel sources.

Glenbrittle, Isle of Skye

For anyone looking to get off the beaten track and detach from the stresses of modern-day living, a trip north to the Isle of Skye is just what you need. Glenbrittle campsite is nestled in a picturesque valley where red deer and rabbits run freely, with trickling waterfalls the only sound you can hear for miles around. A gentle stroll down to the white-sandy beach allows you to pick mussels fresh out of the sea before cooking them over a roaring campfire. What’s not to love about that?

Byecross Farm Campsite, Herefordshire

Byecross is situated in the rolling hills of the Herefordshire countryside, providing you with a unique opportunity to set up camp in the middle of an apple orchard. A nearby farm serves up cooked breakfasts and delicious takeaway meals, while the on-site licensed beer garden is the perfect way to set the world to rights after a busy week in the office. You can either huddle around one of the communal fire bowls or set a fire yourself, depending on how you want to spend your evening.

As you plan your escape to the great outdoors, make sure you’re equipped with the right fuel to ensure your campfire burns long and true throughout the night. Our kiln-dried logs have been dried to a moisture content of less than 20%, ensuring they burn brighter and longer while reducing smoke emissions. But if you want to keep things nice and simple, our Handy Firepit Bundle will allow you to set up your campsite fire in no time at all, giving you permission to focus on relaxing and enjoying the great outdoors.
