High-Performance Pizza Oven Pellets & Heat Logs
If you use a portable oven like an Ooni or Gozney, our pizza oven pellets and heat logs offer a dense, high-energy alternative to traditional firewood. Wood pellets for pizza ovens provide a highly concentrated heat source that ignites quickly and leaves very little residue.
For longer cooking sessions, many chefs prefer pizza oven heat logs. These compressed wood fuels offer a long, steady burn and are an excellent pizza oven fuel choice for maintaining consistent deck temperatures without the need for constant refueling.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the best fuel for a pizza oven?
The best fuel depends on your oven type. For large stone ovens, kiln dried pizza oven logs are ideal for flavor and heat. For smaller, portable ovens, pizza oven pellets or small-cut kiln dried kindling provide the rapid, intense heat needed for fast cooking.
Can I use regular firewood in my pizza oven?
We recommend only using kiln dried hardwood. Softwoods or "green" wood contain high levels of sap and moisture, which create thick black smoke and soot that can ruin the taste of your pizza and damage your oven.
How do I get my pizza oven to the right temperature?
Start with high-quality kindling for pizza ovens and natural firelighters to build a strong base. Gradually add your pizza oven wood or pellets. Using kiln-dried products ensures you reach the necessary high temperatures (around 450°C) much faster than using air-dried wood.
Are wood pellets better than logs for pizza?
Pizza wood pellets are excellent for convenience and quick ignition in gravity-fed ovens. However, pizza oven logs are often preferred in larger ovens for the authentic "wood-fired" aroma and the ability to manage a rolling flame across the roof of the oven.
