Step By Step: Our easy wood delivery process explained

At Homefire, we’re proud to offer a unique fireside delivery service to all of our customers. We understand that one of the challenges of buying firewood and coal is transporting it home, which is why we have made our delivery process so straightforward. Below, we explain what we mean by fireside delivery and outline what you can expect when you order firewood online from Homefire.

Step 1: Chose your fuel source

The first step is to choose the most appropriate fuel source for your fire. Our knowledge base is the perfect resource to help you select the right fuel source for your fire. Among our most popular options include our kiln-dried firewood and Shimada Heat Logs, which are perfect for both indoor and outdoor fireplaces. When you’re ordering the best fuel source for your fire, remember that we offer free delivery on orders over £50. Therefore, it’s a good idea to stock up on your fuel for the entire season, so you can qualify for free delivery and don’t have to worry about running out.

Step 2: Understand your delivery options

Once you’ve placed your order, we will schedule it for delivery. If you have ordered a bagged product up to 50kg, our drivers will deliver your order directly to your log store or coal bunker. Our drivers are extremely helpful and go above and beyond to ensure your delivery is left in the right place, so you don’t need to worry about lugging a heavy bag across your garden. If you have ordered a bulk pallet or dumpy bag that is greater in weight than 50kg, your delivery will be slightly different.

We will deliver your order on the back of a large truck with a tail-lift. The driver will then use a hand pump to pull your pallet off the vehicle. Given the size and weight of the pallet, the driver will only be able to place it in certain locations, and the likes of gravel driveways, uneven surfaces, and narrow entrances will all restrict delivery. This is why it’s really important to notify us of any vehicle access restrictions at the time of delivery if you’re ordering a pallet from us.

Step 3: Receive your goods

We usually make deliveries all day during the week, so you can expect your wood to arrive anytime between 8 am and 6 pm on the scheduled date. Our standard delivery schedule is within 3-5 working days of processing your order, but in Scotland, orders can take up to ten working days. You don’t need to be at home to receive your delivery, but you do need to tell us where we can leave your goods so that they’re safe and secure. If we can’t make a safe delivery and you’re not at home, we will take the goods away and re-arrange delivery for another date, suited to your availability.

Step 4: Set your fire!

Now that your goods have arrived safe and sound, all that’s left to do is stack your firewood and set your home fireplace. Whether you’re utilising an outdoor fire pit or preparing your wood store for the long winter months ahead, a Homefire delivery will ensure you have the fuel you need, no matter the season.
